I have just come from meeting with Father Tony here in Durham who will be receiving us into the Catholic Church. The date of our reception is Saturday, 18 July 2009 at St. Cuthbert's church, Durham. Please remember us in your prayers and again, thank you to each and every one of you for your love, kind welcome, prayers and support. All of you are dear to the Steels during this time. Thank you and God bless all of you!

Jeffrey,
My prayers are with you and your family.
This is a brave and good thing you're doing. It's my understanding that the Pastoral Provision isn't used in the UK, unlike here in the US. This means a through change in career for you, as well.
May the intercession of St. Thomas More (my good patron), be with you.
They do not have the pastoral provision but something different. There are more married clergy in England and Wales than in America. But, right now we are not concentrating on anything but settling into our new family and I will obviously be seeking another form of employment for our immediate future. Thanks for the prayers.
As many others have said, we are happy to have you :)
I hope you have a wonderful Reception.
Mary keep you and your family!
I've looked at your blog periodically and am glad to hear that you will be coming in to full communion! May God bless you and your family richly in this! I came into the Church 12 years ago and have never regretted it.

I admire your decision Father if only because you have put your faith where your mouth is and are taking the plunge... I know that there are others whom you will leave behind that will be sore at your leaving... some have even expressed themselves bitterly disappointed at your going...
There may or may not be a "corporate reunion" option sometime in the future, but your action now reminds one of the Gospel message, that we do not know the day of His "the Master's" returning... in such circumstances, one as convinced as you obviously are, can then only act as you are and hasten to embrace the fullness of the Catholic Faith. Why wait tomorrow when the Lord may come tonight?!
Be assured of my prayers for you Father and your family; you will surely need them. But always, always have faith and trust in Him to provide and look after you all... He will not let you down!
Prayers ascend for you and your family. God Bless you!
Ah, I recognize that smile.
Know exactly where it comes from. A heart, mind, and soul have found their Home.

Just like the Anonymous before me I've immediately noticed the smile. You look very happy on the photo. God bless you on your journey. I will pray for your needs.
Hooray! It will be here before you know it. It is beyond wonderful that your wife and all children are coming with you. There is a little bit of sorrow mixed in when your family is not of the same mind, which is how it has been with me, but I am glad it will not be so with you. I continue my daily prayers of thanksgiving and petition on your behalf.
Welcome into the Catholic Family Father. My heart is gladdened to know that you are placing the pursuit of Truth above everything else even if it is not just inconvenient but downright earth shattering in terms of you and your family's life. The road ahead will not be easy for to be a Catholic is to become a target for ridicule, persecution and misunderstanding. Yet, it is the greatest joy to be one with our Savior in all things, especially in this.
My prayers are with you and your family as you continue your journey. May Mary enfold you in the mantle of her love and may St. John Vianney, patron saint of all priests accompany you with his prayers.
Welcome to Our Family...we have a wonderful Brother Who is waiting to receive you all and Our Mother is so beautiful and tender to her children that you will sense her presence (she smells like roses...I love to snuggle into her arms and take deep breaths of her love), and Our Father is a Wonderful Father and holy and merciful to all His children. So welcome to your new family...I came into my Family at the age of fourteen, dragging my ten year old brother and a girlfriend from school and her younger brother with me. As we stood there in the presence of God, my girlfriend's mother asked Father to baptize her baby brother also and we all felt so joyful that we were all Catholic. It was a wonderful feeling and there is a great sense of family. I will pray for you all as you are received into this Family of God.
Well done for deciding to take the step out. Andrea and I with our daughter Claire crossed the Tiber in Easter 2007. I too had to find alternative work but I was ordained in the Catholic Church in 2003. After four years as an assistant priest I now have a parish in the Shrewsbury Diocese. When you are received I am sure you will find yourself truly at home was we are. I'll offer a Mass for you and yours. Fr.Paul
Thank you Father Paul. I especially need that right now. Pray for provision for needs to be met particularly residential needs.
So very many congratualations :-) And don't go south :-) - Durham is quite far south enough.
