Great News and Expensive News

The great news is that the data recovery company in Surrey just phoned me to let me know that they were able to find all the data that I needed, most importantly my PhD files and the majority of the chapter that I lost. That is a huge relief but an expensive back up lesson. Are you ready for this??????? The cost, £975.80 and that was the discount price that they gave me. My jaw is still on the floor as I type. To all of you who have been so gracious about sending me notes that you were praying for me, thank you very much! This is a very expensive lesson but one that I have without a doubt learned a lot from having it happen to me.

That is a blatant rip off father. My own father in law managed to retrieve my data with a donwloadable programme. I would challenge this! How can it be justified in man hours alone?

Father, I did challenge it and this was the reply:

Dear Jeffrey,

Thank you for the email and for sending us the recovery agreement.

The price is based on the complexity of the work. (the drive was sent to our clean room as it was suffering from an internal mechanical failure and media corruption).

I have seen some prices of up to £3500! It took them 2 full days to do it. I agree it is an absolute wicked price but the technicians locally were ready to just scrap it because there is nothing at all they could do and they had a lot of technical equipment. They told me my only option was to send it off to this recovery site warning me of how high the price could be!

Tough and expensive lesson. I pray for the Lord's provision.

A second (external) hard drive and an 8gbmemory stick both contain all my latest and daily updated work for my D.Min. They are much cheaper than a rescue!

Google Docs and get(dot)dropbox(dot)com = No worries, No hassle, No cost.
