As the readers know, I have lost email addresses due to my hard drive death. This has all been a very trying experience really. If you, the reader, would be so kind as to send me a quick email so that I can build my address book back to where it needs to be that would be wonderful. That way, once I receive your email, I can add it to my address book. Thank you for your kind cooperation. My email is: jeffrey.steel1 [at@] btinternet.com
Please do this as soon as you are able if you have not.

Switch to gmail (or some lesser form of webmail if you'd prefer), it helps. I always try to keep everything important to me online so that when such incidents occur, the damage they cause isn't as great. (Plus you can integrate google calendar, email, etc. on your phone too).

Andy, I don't have your email anymore, can you send it to me via an email to my address?
I'm not sure that you want my e-mail address but I imagine you can get it off this message. Are you now making BACKUPS?
(Incidentally, I lost all my actual messages by unintentionally "compacting the folders" on Thunderbird. I have now discovered EverDesk, a free e-mail programme which keeps my messages in the normal Windows system of folders, not hidden away in some gigantic compressed encrypted file that is likely to disappear if something goes wrong. Worth trying.
