By legalising animal-human hybrids, the Bill disregards the distinction between man and other animals. In this it denies our immortal soul. By legalising the creation of saviour siblings, the Bill proclaims that man and science can deliver us from suffering even by violating fundamental ethical norms such as no person is to be used (or created) as a means to somebody else's end. By allowing the creation of fatherless children the Bill enshrines an extreme rejection of the Father. Fatherhood is intrinsic to life, encoded in the deepest reality not only of creation but first of the uncreated Trinity. By resisting all attempts to lower the upper limit for abortions from 24 weeks the Bill proves itself to be against God's own gift to us: life itself. Your Majesty is the only person in the world with the temporal power to prevent this Bill from becoming an Act. Please help us. Of course, a.s. is right. But beyond that, there is an absolutely elementary category confusion here. Even on absolutely orthodox Christianity, there is no question of the soul without the combination of female egg and male sperm. This orthodox reaction is driven by anxiety: are humans always merely material beings? The anxiety is understandable but it's vital to fight for Christianity (or Judaism or Islam) using proper arguments. Otherwise, we bring religion into justified disrepute.
In line with the "Augustinian" tradition, souls are "created" by NATURAL propagation, with the father as the principal cause, i.e. the concept of Traducianism. Hence, ORIGINAL Sin.
SIN assumes a theological dimension and presupposed that man was created in the IMAGE of God. This sets him apart from the rest of creation. The image of God is what modern ressourcement theologians like to call, mimetic.
Creationism undermines that claim by positing the soul as ADDED to the EMBRYO. But this weakens the doctrine of Original Sin.
This is why abortion is murder and therefore a mortal sin. The embryo is made in the image of God.
- Only human embryos are endowed with souls bearing/capable of bearing the image of God;
- Mixing human DNA with animal cytoplasms in a hybrid embryo DESTROYS the human soul qua HUMAN soul;
- Ergo, human-animal hybrid is murder, just like abortion.
